Vintage Wedding Controversy! I want your feedback!

I’m putting out a call for your thoughts and opinions on the vintage wedding. I recently posted on the vintage wedding trend as a design choice. Ever since, I have noticed that everyone else in the wedding industry seems to have their own opinions on it as well. Every time I browse my Twitter or Facebook or blog reader, I’m seeing someone else speaking their opinions on the subject. Some love it. Some hate it. Some love parts of it and hate others. I re-read my own post and I saw that even I could clarify how I feel about it. So, I put it to you! Brides, wedding professionals, wedding enthusiasts – how do you feel about the vintage designed/inspired wedding? I’ll follow up with a post on your thoughts and more of mine. Leave a comment here, join the discussion on our Facebook page or email me your thoughts at julie {at} invevents.com. Looking forward to hearing what you think!

Until next time… XOXO – Julie

  1. I would venture to say that my wedding 25 years ago was a vintage wedding–so if vintage is a trend, then it’s a long-lasting one. Did my wedding look anything like today’s weddings? Well, no, although there may have been a few elements that I used back then that could maybe fit in now. Vintage is a style, and that style is subject to the interpretation appropriate for the times. Much like seeing a movie made in the 1960′s about the 1920′s, vs. made in 2011. The hairstyles, costumes, set decor etc. are interpreted through the lens of the times. My wedding colors were a teal and dusty rose–yuck! But if you tweak that a little bit, you might come up with today’s tiffany blue and baby pink. Vintage is here to stay; it just might not always look like it does today.

  2. Vintage can mean so many different things! I’ve decided that it isn’t a trend and more of a style. But, it is really hard to define.
