For about a week and a half now, the buzz has been all about fashion! As a shopaholic that obsesses over the latest issues of Vogue and Marie Claire each month, I absolutely love keeping up with the fall and spring Fashion Weeks. Even though New York Fashion Week technically ended yesterday, in the spirit of the fabulous runway shows, why not spread the glamour out a little longer and go out with a bang for Fashion Friday? While I’d love to talk about some of the trends that hit the runways for Spring 2014, like crop tops, tailored whites, metallics and bold prints, I’ll stick to the reason why we’re all here! Like any other kinds of fashion, bridal fashion definitely goes through its own trends, and there are a few things that are sticking out for Spring 2014. While these ideas are only a guideline to some of the trends hitting the runway in New York, they are definitely worth a try when looking for your perfect dress!
1. Illusion Wedding Dresses: Illusion necklines are the perfect solution to having both a fun and modest neckline. Whether the illusion is lace, sheer, embellished or delicately detailed, these barely there necklines add just the right amount of class to a dress.
2. Cap Sleeves: After years of the strapless dresses and halters, the cap sleeves are making a comeback. This sweet look creates an understated elegance that can look both timeless and modern.
3. Beading: Whether it be in the fashion magazines or on the runways in New York, Paris and London, beaded dresses are everywhere. With a heavy presence on the runway, pearls, crystals and beaded jewels are making their way to the top of every designer’s list.
4. Lace: I’m a huge fan of lace, and so are the runways! Whether it’s an all lace dress, a lace back or just a little bit of a lace embellishment, this is a trend that will most likely stick around for longer than Spring 2014. A personal favorite is Oscar de la Renta’s long sleeved lace gown (pictured in the middle).
Enjoy the rest of your fashionable week!
