{fashion friday} Fall into a New Season

September 27, 2013 by Courtney Leave a Comment

With the summer weddings wrapping up and the first day of fall being last week, the days of endless pumpkin spice lattes, boots and cozy scarves are ahead of us. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year, and I can never get enough of the colorful leaves, perfect tailgating weather and pumpkin everything. The last few years in particular, I’ve realized that the leaves aren’t the only thing changing with the seasons though. The number of fall weddings seem to be increasing (or maybe just more of my friends are getting married), and as we cycle out the shorts, tank tops and summer sundresses, it’s time to update your wardrobe for fall weddings as well! Chances are, your go-to summer pastels and wedges aren’t going to work for those late October and November weddings, so when you’re deciding what to wear to your friend or family member’s wedding, it’s time for a change to a more fall friendly ensemble. No matter what season of the year it is, me and my friends tend to spend a good deal of time trying to decide on what we’re going to wear to weddings, and fall is definitely one of the trickier seasons for making outfit decisions. It may be tricky, but there are so many cute options, and I’m completely smitten with some of fall trends this season. Here are my picks for a fabulous fall wedding outfit.

The leaves aren’t the only things rich in color in the fall. Deep, rich colors are a hit on the runways, and they’re also a popular choice for a fall wedding. Plus, if it’s an outside wedding, these colors are guaranteed to look fabulous in pictures. Emerald, pretty oranges, deep purples, chocolate browns and pretty much any shade of red are great choices for a fall wedding. Even if you’re more of a cool skin tone like me, there are still some deep, warm colors that look awesome with lighter skin tones.

If you’re headed to an outdoor wedding in the fall, the weather may be a little cool. If that’s the case, long sleeve dresses are a great option, and you can mix it up with different materials.

Metallics, used sparingly, can be a pretty addition to an outfit for a fall wedding. Silvers, dusty golds and blushing bronze shades look good against a fall backdrop or spice up an understated outfit.

Happy Fall Y’all!
