The holidays are over. The Christmas trees are down, the stockings are put away, Hanukkah has passed and all the New Year’s Eve bubbly has been popped. We are already knee deep in 2016 and all that it has to offer, so my blog post about my holiday family lifestyle/headshot session may be too late. However, it’s relevant to any married lady who loves preserving photographic memories of her family, or if you’re like me, you live for a Christmas card every year!
While I love and live for the annual holiday card, I hate getting pictures taken of myself. I somehow always manage to look or feel super awkward. This year, I was determined to get some photos so we could remember Dexter (my dog) as a puppy and begin a Christmas card tradition. To say that I was blown away by the insane talent and creative instinct of Atlanta wedding photographer Sarah Ingram at Sarah Ingram Photography + Design is the understatement of the year!
For this shoot, Sarah and I talked through the concept beforehand and decided on a “natural with a little glam” look. I choose a subtle glitter swing skirt from Anthropologie and was spoiled with hair and makeup by Ryan Anderson of The Moore Agency. I let Justin and Dexter do their own thing outfit-wise. I was not disappointed by Justin’s choice of festive berry red trousers!
I can’t speak highly enough of the time we spent with Sarah during and before this shoot. Sarah helped me conceptualize a cohesive concept that felt very “us,” which is the most important aspect of any lifestyle photoshoot. Brides, take note: your photographer is so incredibly important to your entire wedding planning process!
I am officially putting the holiday season behind me now, and looking forward to spring! To see more of our holiday photo shoot, be sure to check out our feature on the Inspired By This blog.
Until next Christmas,
Kaitlynne
