A Bridal Shower Fete

As a wedding planner, few things in life make me more excited than witnessing someone close to my heart get married. Over the past year, I was lucky to witness one of my best friends and bridesmaids, Liz Cayce, as she navigated the wedding planning waters. One of the most wonderful things about having best friends get married is being able to spoil them with love and fun celebrations when it is their turn to be the bride.

Liz is not a typical or boring person, and I wanted her bridal shower to reflect that. Instead of the usual tea sandwiches and present-opening shower vibe, I envisioned a fun, interactive, celebratory atmosphere where we might get around to opening presents. We served drinks from a deluxe mimosa bar, and my fellow host/bridesmaid/best friend Courtney did not disappoint with her food bar creations, which featured a yogurt bar, meat and cheese lover petite quiches, and french toast kabobs.

The design inspiration we looked to in planning the wedding shower was based completely around Liz and her favorite things in life, namely, her grumpy four-year-old French Bulldog Winston, also affectionately known as “pig.”
Sarah Ingram created the invitation suite, which featured a real life rendering of Winston with a romantic color palette of soft grey-blues and oxblood red. Pig’s likeness was also featured on cake and cookies made by Columbus, Georgia wedding cake expert Dreams and Buttercream.

We tied the design together with custom linens from I Do LinensB.Anderson Floral Designs blew us away by transforming my mom’s fireplace into a stunning floral focal point. Love Ya Jess came down from Atlanta to capture the day for us.

When planning a bridal shower for a bride you love, the best advice I have is to be thoughtful and think about the things she loves. For example, Liz and her groom love music, so I wanted to do something special that incorporated that shared passion. My favorite detail from the shower was the linen piece hanging above the mantel, which featured lyrics from Liz and Justin’s first dance wedding song, which was written in Sarah Ingram’s beautiful calligraphy.

We had the best afternoon celebrating our bride to be, and it was an absolute honor for me to stand by Liz’s side in March as she married her love Justin in a beautiful and romantic Atlanta wedding at King Plow Arts Center!

Until next time,
Kaitlynne
