What’s the story and inspiration behind Hey Kat Bakes?
Hey Kat Bakes began after a close friend of mine, Melissa from Sweet Melissa’s Cookie Co., taught me how to bake and decorate cookies. We have a lot of fun talking cookies!
What types of services and/or products do you offer clients?
I offer custom decorated cookies for my clients. They are a delicious sugar cookie topped with royal icing.
How would you describe the style of your cookies/baked goods?
I enjoy talking designs with clients and seeing their reaction when they receive their cookies! Ideas are endless when it comes to decorated cookies!
In what ways have brides uniquely utilized your cookies?
Brides use Hey Kat Bakes for engagement parties, bachelorette parties, hotel bags, wedding favors and to display at weddings!
What type of experience can brides expect to receive when working with you?
Brides can expect prompt response via email. I also like to chat over the phone because it’s a personal touch in this very busy world. I offer a simple sample cookie if a client requests it. The cookie is sugar cookie flavored with almond and vanilla with royal icing on top. I’ve been baking and eating this cookie for 2 years now and I have yet to tire from it!
What’s your favorite flavor, shape or type of cookie to create?
For weddings, I love a classic monogram cookie! But I also love all the fun themes people ask me to do for holidays and kids’ birthdays. It’s so hard to choose. Every set I do becomes a favorite! Like I mentioned before, there are so many ideas, and that is the fun part of decorating cookies.
Just for fun, give us the scoop on your morning routine.
Mornings can be insane. When we are in school I usually drag myself out of bed, scramble to get kids to school on time and head out for a run to clear my head. In the summertime, I get up really early to run, then I’m free all day to be with the boys. Baking is usually squeezed in when the kitchen is empty and I have several hours to get my work done. This is done during the day and late into the evening.
Thanks, Kat, for giving us a glimpse into your world! We can’t wait to see all the beautiful cookies to come from your kitchen.
