In our new Dreamy Domestic Destinations series, we highlight our favorite wedding destinations and venues across the country. First up, we’re following the sun to the most stylish places to say “I do” in California.
Calistoga Ranch, an Auberge Resort
Make the most of wine country’s sweeping views by exchanging vows in a property nestled into a romantic 157-acre canyon. The venue can accommodate up to 150 guests, and if you choose to host your ceremony along Lake Lommel, you’ll be surrounded by romantic oak and pine trees, too. Translation: it’s impossible to take a bad photo here.
The French Laundry
Three Michelin Stars, the Wine Spectator Grand Award, and a Drake shout-out (in his song “The Ride”) are just the beginning of what makes Thomas Keller’s famed Napa restaurant special. The best part is, you can have the whole thing to yourselves (and up to 60 guests) for your big day. Or, the dreamy courtyard can host you and 12 of your nearest and dearest for the meal of a lifetime.
The Rosewood Miramar Beach
If you’ve ever dreamed of getting married against stunning ocean views, consider this Montecito paradise, which boasts an 8,000-square-foot lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Or, take the party straight to Miramar Beach for a more casual, shoes-optional celebration. Either way, the water will help set a stunning scene.
The Four Seasons Santa Barbara
This lush oceanside venue has a little bit of everything: 22 acres of blooming gardens, views of the Santa Ynez mountains, and a romantically-named stretch of sand called Butterfly Beach. All that natural beauty makes a serious case for cutting back on decor, less is always more, right? Then again, you probably won’t be able to resist playing up the resort’s Spanish Colonial architecture with on-theme day-of details.
Colony 29
This Palm Springs desert hideaway is encircled by six acres of botanical gardens—and you can rent out the entire spot, which includes lush lawns, vineyards, and rose-covered arches, for your celebration. For the ceremony, choose between the Amphitheater (capacity of 300), the Gardens, or the intimate Mountain Vista, which can fit 50 of your loved ones. (Fun side note: Whitney Port of The Hills tied the knot here!)
Parker Palm Springs
This funky Jonathan Adler-designed Parker Palm Springs has plenty of colorful details to give your big day a prismatic effect. Just saying, a white dress pops against the property’s vivid orange doors. Plus, the Old Hollywood feel there makes it the perfect place to start your own happily ever after.
Ojai Valley Inn
This historic resort has plenty of that Spanish-style Southern California charm that we love. You’ve got plenty of ceremony options here, too: Profess your love amidst the scents of lavender and citrus in the Orchard, or party with your family and friends among the olive trees at the Farmhouse at Ojai, which also boast an organic chef’s garden.
