In our Dreamy Domestic Destinations series, we highlight our favorite wedding destinations and venues across the country. In our latest edition, we’re heading to the southeastern coast for the most romantic places to exchange vows against a beachy backdrop or a historic facade.
Situated on the breezy coast between Charleston and Hilton Head, this Bluffton, South Carolina, resort offers plenty of picturesque places for you and your beloved to say “I do.” There’s the traditional and sweet May River Chapel, or, if you’re more of a nautical pair, you and 22 of your favorite people can set sail aboard Grace Yacht to exchange vows against the sunset on the open sea.

At this Palm Beach stretch of paradise, you can celebrate with up to 500 guests on the Ocean Lawn as the sound of waves crashing drifts in the background. There are also lush palm-tree-lined courtyards and lavish ballrooms for getting down with your crew—it’s basically a tropical Choose Your Own Adventure. And the best part is, there’s no wrong choice.

Talk about making an entrance: The first thing you see when you drive up the winding drive to this Golden Isles resort in Georgia is the Isle of Oaks, where some of the trees clock in at 160 years old. That’s only the beginning of the southern charm at this historic property, where your next-day brunch will be just as epic as your dance floor moves at the Cloister.

The Ritz Carlton Amelia Island
If you’ve always imagined walking down an aisle with white sand between your toes, this North Florida spot is a true slice of heaven. And you actually never have to leave the beach. After your ceremony, your entire party (of any size) can convene for dinner and dancing on the green grass beneath twinkle lights and overlooking the ocean.

On this barrier island off Charleston, the weather is mild all-year round, so there’s no bad time to plan your wedding there. And the scenic golfing greens aren’t just a pretty backdrop—they’re home to one of the most stunning courses in the country (and where Legend of Bagger Vance was filmed). It all adds up to one gorgeous place to exchange vows.

You don’t need a passport to throw a European-inspired party on your big day. At these Italian-inspired gardens on Biscayne Bay, the historic architecture sets a romantic scene. You can wed under majestic oak trees at the Garden Mound, then throw a sustainable soiree, swapping out plastic for bamboo stirrers and choosing a local menu that’s from nearby farms and markets.
