Emily and I go back to our graduate school days, when we were both students in Auburn’s MBA class of 2010. Fast forward nearly four years, to last spring, when she called to tell me about her engagement and ask if I could help plan her wedding. I said yes, of course, and was just completely tickled to be a part of it all.
And how can you blame me? Emily is the girl who we all secretly want to be. She’s gorgeous, crazy smart, and totally driven, complete with a large circle of family and friends who adore her. To elaborate a little on her talents, this girl studied (and passed!) the CPA exam while planning a wedding in Montgomery and living/working in Atlanta. Oh, and did I mention she’s not even an accountant by trade? Add her better half, Duke, into the mix and you’ve got one super amazing power couple!
Their November Montgomery, Alabama wedding took place at St. Bede Catholic Church, the same church Emily grew up and went to school in. The ceremony was as romantic as you can imagine and with a 7:00pm service time and trumpeter, it had a flair of formality, which I absolutely loved. A reception followed for nearly 300 of their closest friends and family at the RSA Activity Center downtown where everyone partied and danced the night away to the sounds of Accent.
Jackie and Luke with Little Acorn Photography were kind (and cool) enough to hang out with us all day and capture every last moment. The ladies of graylillies took care of the stunning blush florals and The Look By Brittney Shelton had Emily and her girls looking their absolute best.
Emily and Duke, I was so honored to be a part of your stunning wedding weekend and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and can’t wait to see what your future holds. Cheers!
