Bridal Fashion

With the new year (and engagement season!) upon us and in full swing, we’re turning our eyes toward the fabulous fashion that is set to come our way in 2021. To get a pulse on all things bridal, we went straight to the source and asked Gabrielle Hurwitz, owner & founder of Gabrielle Hurwitz Bridal Styling, for her thoughts. Read on and discover her top picks!

Little White Dresses

Whether you wear your LWD to your micro-wedding or to one of the events of your big wedding weekend (think: welcome party, rehearsal dinner, or farewell brunch), these dresses may be mini but they pack major style. And the best part? You can totally wear them again!

Voluminous Sleeves

Dramatic sleeves definitely had a moment in the 80s (thanks in large part to Princess Diana) and they’re back and better than ever, but these aren’t your mother’s wedding dresses. Long bishop sleeves that gather at the wrist and billow off of the shoulder add a dash of romance. If you’re looking for a more playful look, consider detachable, puffy short sleeves, which add a dose of whimsy and fun.

Ruffles

Bring on the drama and the romance with layers of cascading ruffles down your gown. No matter the silhouette, ruffles add an undeniable sense of femininity and fun to any look.

Jumpsuits

It’s 2021 and anything goes when it comes to your wedding fashion. If you’re more comfortable in pants or separates in your everyday life, embrace that on your wedding day and find a fabulous jumpsuit or suit. With luxurious fabrics and impeccable attention to detail, these will still feel bridal and worthy of your big day.

Square Necks

One of the most universally flattering necklines, square necks originally gained popularity during the Renaissance and are back in a big way for 2021. The geometric shape accentuates your collarbone and shoulders, perfectly framing your glowing face as you walk down the aisle.

Clean Lines

Less is so much more when it comes to these chic, minimal wedding dresses. Though distinctly sleek and modern, there’s still something so timeless about the clean lines of these gowns. Channel your inner Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and let your natural beauty shine.

Capes

If ever there was a day to be extra, it’s your wedding day. Dramatic and fashion-forward, a cape is the perfect way to ensure you’re the star of the show. Wear a cape in place of a veil for the ceremony and ditch it for the reception so you can dance the night away.

Color + Pattern

Who says a bride has to wear white? If you’re feeling bold, look for a gown with a fabulous print or statement hue. Your wedding is the ultimate expression of you, and your wedding dress should be no different, matching your fashion-forward ways. Look for influences from the Couture and Ready-to-Wear runways, and don’t be afraid to shop directly from them, too!
