Little Black Book: East Coast Wedding Photographers

The connection between you and your spouse is forever—and so are your wedding photos. So it’s important that you hire a photographer who understands your style, personalities and venue. When you really think about it, the pictures taken at your ceremony and reception will be the memories that you’ll display in your home, revisit every year on your anniversary, and show your grandchildren someday. Nobody understands this more than us! As part of our Little Black Book series, we’ll be sharing our lists of our favorite wedding photographers from across the country. We previously covered the West Coast here, next up, the East Coast.

Florida

Jacqui Cole

Florida-based Cole captures stunning vistas, epic pool portraits, and gown shots, but most of all, she collects the true joy between a married couple.

Kaity Brawley

There isn’t a moment of your big day that Florida-based Brawley won’t capture, from your first look to the last dance.

KT Merry

Whether she’s shooting a celebrity pair or one of the rest of us, Florida-based Merry understands color, scale, and high drama like no one else.

New York

Charlotte Jenks Lewis

Dreamy portraits against the Brooklyn Bridge? Close-ups of your big day bling? Family snaps that will move you tears for years to come? Jenks Lewis checks all the boxes.

Christian Oth

As the principal photographer and  founder of Christian Oth Studios, this shutterbug splits time between New York and Miami. But no matter his location, his fashion-forward style will make you feel like you belong in the pages of a magazine. (And much of his work does end up in print!)

Jaine Kershner

Kershner produces bright, clean photos where everyone looks like their best selves. But she doesn’t just shoot portraits. Her snaps of stationery and details are things of beauty as well.

John Dolan

This fine art photographer produces museum-worthy portraits that you’ll want to hang on your walls forever. Just ask some of his celebrity clients, which include Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Bosworth.

North Carolina

Kat Braman

Though she’s based in North Carolina and Palm Beach, Florida, Braman isn’t afraid to travel for a destination wedding; in fact, it’s her specialty.

South Carolina

Lucy Cuneo

“Romantic and dreamy” is how South Carolina-based Cuneo describes her wedding photography style. We’d like to add “classic,” “timeless,” and “oh-so-pretty.”

Olivia Rae James

Charleston-based James captures candid moments like you wouldn’t believe. Don’t worry about posing when she’s behind the lens; the magic comes in the in-between moments.

Sacia Matthews

Though she’s inspired by fashion, Matthews’s photography never feels stuffy or overthought. And though she’s based in South Carolina, destination weddings are definitely her thing.

Virginia

Laura Gordon

Whether you’re planning to exchange vows at an epic European castle or on a ranch in California, Virginia-based Gordon will be there to capture every sunkissed moment. In fact, her attention to lighting makes every photo frame-worthy.

Washington, D.C.

Abby Jiu

There’s no one chicer than Washington, D.C.-based Jiu and her all-female team, who know just how to capture moments of true joy and beauty. (Read: They understand flattering angles.)
