Local Praise: Shindigs

September 22, 2017

Of all the caterers in Birmingham (and amazing food!), it’s hard to pick a favorite. Still, if you ask us to tell you our top picks, Shindigs Catering would, hands down, be one of them. You may have seen the Shindigs food truck trekking around the Magic City. Our suggestion? If you’re even slightly in the mood for a snack, pull over. We promise you won’t regret it!

Owner and Chef Mac Russell began cooking at a young age with his four aunts, mother and grandmother, and soon after college, pursued a culinary career, gaining experience at Culinard, Apicius in Italy, Hot & Hot Fish Club, Jubilee Seafood and Ross Bridge Resort, to name a few. Mac draws inspiration on familiar Southern flavors from local farmers and ranchers, and his goal is to develop a reputation for offering a healthier, tastier version of fast food. As mentioned on their website, Mac aims to construct “habitually comforting dishes that are seemingly innocent, yet ‘spank’ your taste buds.” We couldn’t agree more!

Perfect for a rehearsal dinner or after-party snacks, Shindigs’ eclectic, mouth-watering flavors leave guests wanting more and looking forward to the next course or passed hors d’ouevre. Some of our favorite catering items include the Signature Grilled Cheese, Truffle Fries, Caramelized Fig Canape, the Bama Slider (Conecuh sausage and pimiento cheese with Wickle’s Pickles), Black Grouper and Bacon-Larded Scallops. If you aren’t starving by now, check out the rest of their mouth-watering menu items!

Catch Shindigs around Birmingham by keeping up with their schedule on their Facebook page, which they update regularly. Bon appetite!
