Dreamy Domestic Wedding Destinations: Appalachian Mountains Edition

In our Dreamy Domestic Destinations series, we highlight our favorite wedding destinations and venues across the country. In our second edition, we’re heading to the mountains for the most stylish places to say “I do” among the Appalachians.

Blackberry Farm

Don’t get thrown by the word “farm.” Tucked into 4,200 wooded acres in Walland, Tennessee is one of the most luxurious and romantic hotels in the world, the perfect scene for a “white dress and  boots” kind of party. Not only will your pictures be against the majestic Smoky Mountains, you and your guests will dine on locally-sourced meals cooked to perfection.

Blackberry Mountain

If you’re more the nature types, the cabins at this Blackberry Farm sister property in Walland, Tennessee, will set a cool scene for summer camp-themed nuptials. Again, there’s no real roughing it here—the restaurant serves supper under twinkly lights on their lawn overlooking the Smoky Mountain Range—but you can also arrange for a group hike the morning of your I Do’s.

RT Lodge

Surrounded by trees of the Maryville College campus in Maryville, Tennessee, the Lodge can accommodate 250 of your friends and family on their romantic lawn as you exchange vows. Afterwards, sip cocktails on the veranda, then dine underneath a Sperry tent with plenty of string lights. And of course you’re capping off the night with fireside s’mores.

Lonesome Valley

Just an hour and a half west of Asheville, North Carolina lies a picture perfect setting where you can tie the knot against the backdrop of the largest box canyon east of the Mississippi. (Epic pictures? Check.) At Canyon Kitchen,  your entire group can party the night away after a mouthwatering meal from the property’s acclaimed chefs. *photos by Clark Brewer

High Hampton Inn

Make history at a mountain retreat in Cashiers, North Carolina that has been a favorite for generations. The 1400-acre resort offers plenty of pretty places to say “I do” against the majestic cliffs of the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounded by 100 of your friends and family. The whole experience is nothing short of a night to remember forever. *photos by Kristin Sweeting

Half-Mile Farm

Is this Highlands, North Carolina—or Napa, California? At Half-Mile Farm, which offers sips and stunning views, it’s easy to get confused. But once you explore the 14 acres of forests and streams on the property (don’t forget the sparkling Apple Lake), you’ll know you’re in North Carolina. You can exchange vows right there on the lake, then gather everyone in an updated 1870s farmhouse for a rustic chic celebration.

Old Edwards Inn

Laid-back luxury is the name of the game at this Highlands, North Carolina inn and venue. The southern charm setting offers a few options in the way of elegant event spaces, from the English-style Orchard House to The Barn and its adjoining pavilion which can accommodate up to 275 of your nearest and dearest.

Primland

This dreamy resort in Meadows of Dan, Virginia, is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which means you’ll be surrounded by dogwoods, wild rhododendron blooms, and, in the summertime, dancing fireflies. The 12,000-acre property can fit a wide range of guest counts, and the wood-paneled rooms are a mountain-chic place to get ready with your crew.
